Video Winners Chosen for 2012 Grain Cart Contest

Unverferth has announced the winners of its video contest. Canadian family walks away with top honors.

The Frank Dietrich family from Lucan, Ontario, Canada, is the grand prize winner in the "Why Do You Choose Brent?" video contest. Announced last Friday at the National Farm Machinery Show, the Dietrich farm family video was chosen the best through an online vote at the Brent website.

We reviewed all five finalists here in Farmers Respond to Video Contest and the competition was tough. Each of the finalists had done its best to bring high-quality video production values to their finished product. As grand prize winners, the Dietrichs will received a 60-inch flat-screen LCD TV valued at $2,500.

Their video used still and video photography to show the family's use of a new Brent model 882 grain cart from the day it first arrived in January, 2011, through the completion of last fall's wheat and corn harvest. The family used innovative video techniques to give their entry an interesting look as well.

"The Dietrich's video, as did all the entries, clearly showed their pride in their family, farm and Brent grain cart," says Dan Fanger, vice president, sales and marketing, Unverferth.

Second place was the Kyle Kohlhagen family of Rensselaer, Ind. That earned them a $1,000 Cabela's gift card. The other three finalists - Conrad Arnzen, Craigmont, Idaho, with his video of Boyer Farms Lapwai, Idaho; the Couser family of Nevada, Iowa; and the Kerry Knuth family of Mead, Neb.; each one a new Canon HD camcorder for taking their home video to the next level.

This contest garnered some surprising entries both in their quality and their ingenuity. I also learned during the National Farm Machinery Show last week that the Couser video was shot using a cellphone. Farmers are nothing if not innovative in the ways they tackle a challenge.

It was an interesting contest for the industry. Enjoy the videos.
