Iowa beef cattle producers are invited to go on a three-day learning trip to locations in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri. It's an opportunity to tour innovative beef operations, and visit with successful producers and cutting edge researchers.
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach beef program specialist Joe Sellers says the trip will visit some individual cattle farms. Also, stops at the University of Illinois Dixon Springs Research Center and Land O'Lakes Purina Feed Longview Animal Nutrition Center in Missouri will provide current information on research being conducted at those locations.
The trip runs from July 16-18 with passenger pick up at three southern Iowa locations.
"The morning of July 16 we'll leave Chariton at 7, Albia at 7:45 and Centerville at 8:20," Sellers says. "The trip includes several stops at private ranches and operations, in addition to the research facilities, during the three days. Those who attend will be able to see and ask questions about a number of timely topics pertinent to their own cattle farming operations."

Registration fee for the tour is $100 per person, which includes bus travel from and to the Iowa locations, and some meals and refreshments. Agenda packed with interesting topics, speakers about beef cattle production
Sellers said that while the agenda is a busy one, producers will learn a great deal at the stops and through conversations with others.
"We have a great group of sponsors for this trip," he adds. "Purina Animal Nutrition, Community 1st Credit Union, Great Western Bank, Midwest Heritage Bank, Lucas County Extension and Outreach, and the Iowa Beef Center all play important roles in helping provide an informative and educational opportunity for Iowa beef producers."
