Biodiesel Meetings To Explain Tax Credits

The resurgence of the biodiesel industry in Iowa will be discussed and the current tax credit programs will be explained, at two profitability workshops to be held March 8 at Ft. Dodge and March 9 at Ankeny.

City fleet managers, transit managers, off-and on-road diesel users and petroleum jobbers and co-ops are invited to one of two meetings in Iowa next week regarding biodiesel use. Sponsors are the Iowa Clean Cities Coalition, the Iowa Biodiesel Board, Iowa Soybean Association and Renewable Energy Group, a company based in Ames that is the nation's largest biodiesel-producer.

Representatives of these biodiesel groups will outline how to take advantage of state and regional policies and programs that are behind the resurging biodiesel industry in Iowa and elsewhere. Petroleum distributors will also learn how to make the new federal Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS2) work for them, while increasing the availability of biodiesel in the state.  

Tuesday, March 8, 2011 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Iowa Central Community College, Bioscience & Health Sciences Building, Rm. 105, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa.

Wednesday, March 9, 2011 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Iowa Soybean office,

at 1255 SW Prairie Trail Parkway, in Ankeny, Iowa.

The agenda for each meeting: At 9:30 a.m. registration; at 10 a.m. welcome and introductions; at 10:15 a.m. the topic is "Iowa's Role in the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS2) and the Global Biodiesel Market"; at 11:15 a.m. the topic is "State, Regional and Federal Grant Opportunities for Fleets, Jobbers and More"; at 11:45 a.m. there will be a fleet testimonial; noon lunch will be provided.

At 1:00 p.m. the discussion will be about profitability with Iowa's tax incentive program; at 1:30 p.m. it's biodiesel user testimonials; at 1:45 p.m. the topic is "Advanced Biofuels: Food, Feed and Fiber, What is Biodiesel's Role?" At 2 p.m. the discussion will be on technical blending and handling updates for jobbers, co-ops and fleets.
