New tractors, loaders, combines and other diesel-engine ag equipment at the 2008 Farm Progress Show is running on a B20 biodiesel blend – the first year this blend of biodiesel will be used at the nation's leading outdoor farm event.
The B20 blend is provided through the following companies: STAR Energy, LLC; FS companies of Iowa; GROWMARK, Inc.; and Renewable Energy Group of Ames, Iowa. STAR Energy and FS member companies of Iowa are providing the fuel on-site; GROWMARK, Inc. and Renewable Energy Group is providing the diesel/B20 biodiesel blend.
"This is another opportunity to educate those people who are involved in agriculture about the benefits of using biodiesel," says Jason Stauffer, energy specialist for STAR Energy, LLC. "Using a B20 blend in the demonstration equipment at the Farm Progress Show reinforces the fact that if B20 can be used here, B20 can be used on every farm."
Consider the value of biodiesel
"A B20 blend at the Farm Progress Show demonstrates the value of biodiesel for the American farmer," says Nile Ramsbottom, president of Renewable Energy Group. "Today's agriculture producers grow row crops and livestock that offer vegetable oils and fats which can be used to produce biodiesel. The biodiesel is then used by growers to produce their next crop while helping America become energy independent."
Mark Dehner, GROWMARK marketing manager, refined and renewable fuels, says GROWMARK has a 30-year history of fueling Farm Progress Show equipment, as well as all official show vehicles. "We're in this business for the long haul. We are proud to continue to provide fuel for the Farm Progress Show equipment and vehicles used this year. Our participation year after year demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the renewable fuels industry and to the Farm Progress Show."
Farm Progress Show is Aug. 26, 27 & 28
