California State FSA Director will fill USDA FSA Administrator position left vacant by Juan Garcia

Val Dolcini, California FSA state executive director, has been selected to serve as the new Farm Service Agency Administrator, USDA said Friday.

Dolcini will fill the spot left vacant by Farm Service Agency Administrator Juan M. Garcia, who had served in the role since July 2012. Garcia announced his retirement earlier this month.

Dolcini was appointed to his position as California director by President Obama in 2009, and served in the same position under President Clinton. In 2011, he served as the acting FSA Administrator in Washington, D.C.
