Farmers with hay or straw for sale are encouraged to update their listing on the Iowa Hay and Straw Directory. The directory lists Iowa producers who sell hay or straw, as well as organizations and businesses associated with promoting and marketing quality hay and straw. If you've never registered and have hay or straw for sale, you are encouraged to register and list your hay on online.
This directory has proven to be a valuable asset to Iowa farmers who buy and sell hay and straw. State agriculture officials urge those people that can use this online directory to take full advantage of this resource. "With the ongoing dry weather and drought conditions, this directory may serve as a critical link for both buyers and sellers," says Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey.
The listing is available to interested buyers throughout the nation, however only sellers of hay from within Iowa can be included on the list.
As the 2012 haying season is in high-gear, it's time to update your listing
Names are gathered throughout the year with added emphasis now that the 2012 hay season is in high-gear. Sections within the Hay and Straw Directory where you can go to get information include "Forage for Sale," "Forage Auctions," "Hay Associations," "Forage Dealers," "Hay Grinders" and "Custom Balers."
Farmers interested in listing should visit the state ag department's website www.IowaAgriculture.gov. An application form can be found by going to the "Bureaus" link and then selecting "Agricultural Diversification and Market Development." Then click on "Hay & Straw Directory" on the right side of the page under "Directories."
