How To Put A Face On Your Farm

Anyone who is interested can tune in to PFI's "Branding" webinar July 12 and discover how farmers are "Putting a Face on Their Farms." Branding helps convey credibility to buyers of farm-grown products and enhances customer loyalty.

By sitting down at your home computer and tuning in to a July 12 "Farminar" you can learn how branding is helping 10 Iowa fruit and vegetable farmers convey credibility to prospective buyers, enhance customer loyalty and communicate more effectively regarding their farm-grown products. The online broadcast, sponsored by Practical Farmers of Iowa,  will show and explain how these farmers have begun to "Put a Face on their Farms."

Andrew Clark, otherwise known as The Brand Chef, will lead this webinar on "branding." A webinar is a live online seminar you can view and listen to on a computer. The July 12 farminar (as PFI calls its webinars) is a follow-up to a PFI branding workshop held earlier this year. The July 12 farminar will run from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. It is FREE and open to anyone who wants to tune-in.

You'll learn how a brand for a product is more than just a good logo

In March of 2011, ten of the attendees at the PFI branding workshop were selected to receive $1,000 of additional branding assistance at no cost. During this July 12 "Putting a Face on Their Farms" Farminar, you will follow along with Brand Chef Andrew Clark as he retraces the process he has undertaken with two of the 10 farmers who received his assistance.

You will discover how a brand is more than just a good logo, as you monitor their progress and walk step by step through the branding process with Clark and Practical Farmers of Iowa members Emily Babin of Linden, Iowa and Carol Prescott of Ventura, Iowa. Clark has been working with them to develop  T.R.U.E. brands, logos and websites.

Babin, who owns Early Morning Harvest, says, "Andrew drove out to our farm in Panora to sit down with us and really get to know our business and core values. Since that initial meeting, he understands what we are aiming for in our marketing strategy, not to mention, he has a great eye for design. Prior to working with Andrew, we wrestled with logo design for months. Since we began working with him in April, we quickly found a logo that works for us. We've also developed eye-catching labels for our products and we are currently working on developing our website."

Putting a face on your farm is brand-focused instead of commodity driven

The people who tune in to the "Putting a Face on Their Farms" farminar will leave with a better understanding of what branding is and how a strong farm brand can convert customers and prospects into TRUE brand advocates, who make their buying and referral decisions brand-focused instead of commodity driven, says Clark. The Farminar will include a question and answer session.
