Immigration Raid at Five Pilgrim's Pride Plants

About 400 employees were arrested.

Pilgrim's Pride Corp., the largest chicken company in the U.S., said this afternoon enforcement officials from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Immigration & Custom Enforcement division today arrested 400 non-management employees at five processing facilities for immigration-related crimes, including aggravated identity theft. Pilgrim's Pride said the 400 employees represent just 4% of the workforce at the five plants and said the company is working "to prevent or minimize any disruption in operations or services" at the plants.

Pilgrim's Pride noted that the company does not face any civil or criminal charges in connection with the raids and in fact that it was the company that uncovered an identity theft at one of the facilities and notified the appropriate federal authorities.
