Anyone interested in fruit and vegetable production is invited to attend the annual meeting of the Iowa Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association Jan. 24-25 at Marshalltown. Agritourism and marketing are two topics that will be discussed, along with a number of other items on the agenda.
A half day seminar on Jan. 25, led by nationally-recognized marketing consultant Jane Eckert of Eckert Agrimarketing in St. Louis, highlights the meeting which will be held at the Best Western Regency in Marshalltown.
Other sessions include grower panels on orchard production, farmers markets, Community Supported Agriculture, production and marketing of strawberries, branding and logos for Iowa products, and commercial sales.

Afternoon breakout sessions include production topics by growers and Iowa State University fruit and vegetable extension experts.
Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey and Deputy Secretary Karey Claghorn will address the conference. Also featured are state horticulturist Mike Bevins and Maury Wills, organic bureau chief with the Iowa Department of Agriculture.
