Iowa Students Harvest Scholarships From Farm Machinery Dealers

Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association awards $53,000 to college students for 2014-2015.

The Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association recently announced that $53,000 will be given to students participating in the I-NEDA Matching Scholarship Program for the 2014-2015 school year. "We are honored to award 54 students in Iowa and Nebraska with a scholarship of up to $1,000 each," says Andrew Goodman, president and CEO of the association. "In addition, our local dealerships match the dollar amount given by I-NEDA, bringing the total amount of assistance up to $2,000 per student.”

HELPING PAY FOR COLLEGE: The Iowa-Nebraska Farm Equipment Dealers Association has given $1,000 scholarships to 54 students from Iowa and Nebraska. These scholarships will be matched by the students’ local dealership as part of a program that started in 2008.

Established in 2008 to address the shortage of dealership personnel, the I-NEDA Matching Scholarship Program helps members attract and nurture local talent aspiring toward management, technical, sales or administrative positions within a dealership. Since its launch, I-NEDA's "dealer-driven" program has awarded 221 scholarships totaling $273,000 to applicants who have enrolled as full-time students in a "dealer-approved" higher education curriculum. Scholarships are then renewable for each subsequent year of the student's educational program, as long as the student remains eligible and the sponsoring dealership agrees to participate with matching funds.

Rewarding students and helping them cover college costs
As with all scholarships the main idea is to reward students for scholastic achievement by helping them pay for college expenses, says Goodman. For more information visitthe Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association website.
