Iowa State University Extension is offering the Crop Scout School for those folks planning to work as crop scouts during the 2011 crop season. Identification and scouting methods of weeds, insects and diseases will be covered in hands-on sessions. Workshops on plant growth and development of corn, soybean and alfalfa will be included, along with discussion of common field crop problems.
The ISU 2011 Crop Scout School will be held Saturday, March 5, on the Iowa State campus in Ames. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. in Kildee Hall with sessions beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Registration is limited to 140 participants and pre-registration is required. The cost is $85. Registration and fees must be received by March 2. Registrations will not be accepted at the door for this program. The fees cover a scouting notebook, lunch and breaks.
