Ag Career Day, the largest university career fair for agriculturally-related jobs, is set for Oct. 23, 2007 on the Iowa State University campus.
The annual event reached its maximum number of recruiting companies within two weeks of opening registration. Mike Gaul, director of College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Career Services, says the interest from employers is "indicative of a great job market."
"This will be one of the best line-ups we've had as far as the diversity of companies," says Gaul. There will be 149 employers with booths at the career fair. Renovations that are on-going at the ISU Memorial Union--the Ag Career Day's location--has reduced the amount of space available for the event this year. Last year, 155 employers participated.
Annual job fair is open to the public
Ag Career Day is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Memorial Union's Great Hall and Campanile Room.
Gaul says the career fair kicks off the recruitment season in the college. More than 80% of the year's on-campus interviews for internships and full-time positions occur between the day after Ag Career Day and finals week in December. Historically, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Career Services has a 98% placement rate, with graduates on the job or pursuing advanced degrees.
