Soybean Aphid Field Guide Now Available

The new Soybean Aphid Field Guide is now available from the Iowa Soybean Association. It's a handy reference for use by farmers, agronomists, crop consultants and anyone else interested in soybean production.

The revised Soybean Aphid Field Guide (2nd Edition) is now available for download from the Iowa Soybean Association's Production Research Library. This second edition of the handy reference has been updated to include the latest best management practices to reduce yield loss from Iowa's number one soybean insect pest.

The 56-page publication can be downloaded in PDF format or read on-line. Print copies will be available after July 10 and can be obtained at no cost by calling the Iowa Soybean Association at (800) 383-1423.  Printing and distribution of this publication was paid for by the Iowa Soybean Association and the checkoff.

Also new to the Iowa Soybean Association's Library are several new agronomic fact sheets.  They are:

Soybean Aphid fact sheet:  A one-page publication with just the facts on soybean aphid management using insecticides and host plant resistance.

Brown Marmorated Stink Bug: Iowa has yet another invasive insect pest. Read the latest information on how to identify this pest and other stink bugs that are endemic to Iowa.

White Mold:  Manage white mold for better yields. This disease can substantially reduce soybean yield. This easy-to-read fact sheet provides effective management recommendations.  However, you should also note that coming soon is another publication on white mold, which will be titled Management of White Mold in Soybean. This is a more comprehensive publication on managing white mold. Expected release date is July 30, 2011.

Soybean Cyst Nematode:  Manage SCN for better bean yields. This fact sheet is a quick reference guide to improve soybean yields by better understanding what is really going on below ground.

Each of these publications can be downloaded in PDF format and read on-line.  Print copies of these fact sheets are available after July 1 and can be obtained at no cost by calling the Iowa Soybean Association at (800) 383-1423.  Printing and distribution of the fact sheet publications were paid for by the soybean checkoff.
