Each year, the Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area organization in Iowa celebrates the best in heritage development by presenting Golden Silo Awards. The awards honor individuals and organizations in Iowa whose contributions demonstrate outstanding excellence in preserving and telling America's agricultural story. For the third year in a row, the award for the People's Choice "Site of the Year" is being left to the public to decide.
From March 7-13 the voting will be open at www.silosandsmokestacks.org and the 2011 winner will be announced during the annual Golden Silo Awards ceremony on April 6 in Waterloo. This year's People's Choice "Site of the Year" nominees include:
Four Mounds Inn, Dubuque
Heartland Acres Agribition Center, Independence
University of Iowa Museum of Natural History, Iowa City
