It is official - the Iowa Corn CyHawk Trophy voting has begun and will run through April 30. You can log onto website and vote for your favorite.

Voting by football fans to choose the design for the new Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Trophy has begun and it will run through April 30, 2012.

The University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Iowa State University Athletics, Learfield Sports, and the sponsors of the trophy—the Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board--made the announcement April 14. The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Trophy is presented to the winner of the annual football game between the UI and ISU. The voting to choose a new trophy began on Saturday, April 14, at the spring football exhibition practices of the Hawkeyes and the Cyclones. The voting will continue through midnight on April 30.

In August and September of last year, fans of the two teams submitted nearly 500 trophy ideas. Reoccurring themes and top ideas were presented to a panel of former players and coaches from the universities as well as two representatives from Iowa Corn. This committee came up with several selections for the fans to vote on, which will decide what the trophy will look like.

Fans can vote online; winning trophy design will be announced in early May

Fans are invited to submit their vote online at Voting will be tracked in real time and votes will be tracked by fan base.

The winning trophy design will be officially announced during the first week of May. Then the finished trophy will be on the sidelines at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 8, when the Cyclones and Hawkeyes meet in this year's kickoff event to the 2012-13 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.

In August 2011, Iowa State University Athletics, University of Iowa Athletics, Learfield Sports, and Iowa the Iowa Corn Growers Association and Iowa Corn Promotion Board unveiled a new Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series trophy. After a less than enthusiastic response, the trophy was pulled and an "interim" trophy was used for the 2011 Iowa vs. Iowa State football game. Shortly after the game, Iowa Corn opened the trophy design up to the fans of the two teams. After more than 500 designs and ideas were collected, a trophy company transformed the fan's ideas into trophy concepts.

How the new Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series trophy will be selected

Fans will be able to vote from April 14, 2012 to April 30, 2012. Each valid email address will have one (1) vote. The trophy design with the most votes will be put into production by Rickabaugh Graphics, a nationally recognized, well-known sports oriented branding and trophy design company.

* Voting Process: The voting will be open from April 14, 2012 to April 30, 2012, for purposes of this vote, the period begins on Saturday at 12 a.m. CST and ends on midnight CST on Monday ("voting period"). Fans can cast one vote for their favorite design with a valid email address, but may share the voting opportunity with their friends and family. The votes for each design will be tabulated immediately and will be visible on the website.

At the completion of the voting process, the winning trophy will be announced and put into production to be complete for the Cy-Hawk football game in September. In the event of a tie, fans will be invited to vote for between the final two trophy designs to determine a winner of the tie. The voting will be conducted in the same manner as the previous vote. The exact voting period will be announced at a later date, if such a voting period becomes necessary.

A vote will count if the fan has successfully submitted a vote via the website during the valid window of time and received a confirmation email. No texting votes are allowed in this contest, however, fans are allowed to vote on the website through their smartphones. Under no circumstances will Iowa Corn, Iowa State University, the University of Iowa and/or Learfield Sports be

responsible for any data or wireless charges incurred by fans.

* Regulations: The contest begins on April 14, 2012 and runs through April 30, 2012. Votes received after 11:59 a.m. CST on April 30, 2012 will not be counted. Iowa Corn, Iowa State, and the University of Iowa reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to void any votes deemed fraudulent or not cast in conformity with these official rules or votes otherwise designed to undermine the integrity of the vote. A valid, legal vote will be

one cast by a human host in accordance with the rules and regulations outlined and per one working, valid email address. No purchase necessary to vote.

Iowa Corn, Iowa State, University of Iowa and Learfield will not sell, trade, or rent the email address submitted through the voting process to other companies or individuals. The same organizations and businesses listed above are not responsible for technical failures of any kind or any problems or delays arising from any technical, software or equipment malfunctions, computer viruses, congestion on or unavailability of the voting site during the Competition. If the groups above determine, it is the sole discretion that there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering or
