Pink farm tires grab attention for annual Ride to a Cure fundraiser to fight cancer.

October is breast cancer awareness month, and local tire manufacturer Titan is hosting the fourth annual Ride to a Cure event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Titan plant at 2345 E. Market St. in Des Moines.

The event is free and open to the public, with 100% of proceeds going to John Stoddard Cancer Center. Free-will donations are accepted.

Attendees can enjoy fall activities, such as a hayrack ride, pumpkin painting and a car show. The Iowa Speedway Official Pace Car will also be on-site.

Titan began making pink tires in 2016. Titan International’s Des Moines plant, where Goodyear Farm Tires are produced, went through the process of building pink tractor tires. These tires can be seen on a 1954 Farmall at this year’s Ride to a Cure event. Employees of the Titan tire manufacturing plant in Des Moines developed the pink tires to bring awareness of the need to fund breast cancer research. They’ve been a favorite on tractor rides, parades and farm shows. The Farmall M was decked out in pink tires at the 2018 Farm Progress Show at Boone.
