Iowa Residents Win Free Fuel From Cenex

"Tanks of Thanks" program rewards Iowa residents for making a difference in their community.

Two local residents have received a special thank you for their contributions to the community. Joy Owens of Mitchellville and Bud Langmaid of Newton were recently selected to receive free fuel from Tanks of Thanks, a program that rewards people who do good deeds to help make their community just a little bit better.

The Tanks of Thanks program from CHS and Cenex fuel retailers encourages people to nominate friends, family and neighbors for free fuel as a way to say thank you for doing good in the community. Each month, CHS and Cenex retailers give away more than $5,000 in free fuel through the Tanks of Thanks program.

HELPING THE COMMUNITY: The Cenex "Tanks of Thanks" program rewards local customers with a $50 gift card for making a difference in their local community.

Owens was nominated for starting 4Hisheart, a ministry that sends out comfort bags to newborns with congenital heart defects, after losing her own son to the disease. She provides hope, comfort and materials to families dealing with this complication. Langmaid was nominated for his many years as a volunteer in Newton. He tends to the maintenance needs of the Jasper County Historical Museum without being asked, serving on the Board of Directors for the museum and performing any other tasks that need to be done. Earlier this month, Owens and Landmaid were selected to receive $50 Tanks of Thanks gift cards, redeemable at any Cenex location.

Gift cards for free fuel help locals who help community
"There are people doing good things in every local community, and these acts of kindness do not go unnoticed or unappreciated," explains Akhtar Hussain, CHS refined fuels brand marketing manager. "Congratulations to Joy Owens and Bud Langmaid, and thank you for your contribution to the community."

According to Hussain, Tanks of Thanks is a multiyear program, so there is still plenty of time for others to nominate someone they know, for a chance at receiving free fuel. "Nominating someone for Tanks of Thanks is easy, and anyone can nominate or be nominated for any act of kindness, big or small," he says.
