On September 9 on the Iowa State University campus at Ames, the Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers will host a one-day, educational conference, titled "Farming for the Future: A Vision for Your Family's Farm." The day will provide essential information for Iowa's farmers to help them grow their livestock farms successfully and responsibly.
The theme and focus of this meeting is how to bring young people back to the farm. It will run from from 10:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Iowa State Center's Scheman Building in Ames on that Saturday.
"Our research shows that more and more farmers would like to help their sons or daughters come back to the farm," says Brian Waddingham, executive director of CSIF. "They want their farm to stay in the family and that presents some challenges. During the past year, the Coalition has assisted many farm families in bringing a young person back to the farm. Our 'Farming for the Future' conference is designed provide Iowa's livestock farmers the tools necessary to not only stay on the farm, but give the next generation the knowledge and resources to successfully return to the farm."
Registration for the conference is free if completed by September 3
This year's conference will feature several topics including a livestock, crop and feed outlook, as well as a rules and regulations update regarding livestock production. There will be panels of agriculture finance experts and young farmers who have used various strategies to return to the farm.
Registration is free if completed by September 3. For more information about the conference or to register, visit www.supportfarmers.com or call 1-800-932-2436. Space is limited. Lunch will be provided.
